Paul Brown has been in the beauty industry for over 34 years, and his endeavors both as a stylist and entrepreneur contributes to the proliferation of unique innovations in the world of beauty. Artwork by Lin MatsuokaPaul Brown, master hairstylist, educator and businessman, heads an international company today and promotes his beloved Hawaii all over the world. Brown's far-reaching business had its start when he opened his first Honolulu hair salon in 1971.

In the late 1980's, Paul Brown founded the successful international hair care products company, which bears his name. From his long experience and knowledge of hair styling, and because of his love of Hawaii and his work there, he took Hawaiian plant and sea essences and adapted them into superb multicultural shampoos, conditioners and other products. These products are now sold in professional salons across the U.S.A., Europe, Canada, Australia, Mexico, South America and Asia, imparting the healthy glow of Hawaii to the hair of the purchasers, wherever in the world they live.


Paul at a recent Fashion ShowMr. Brown's reputation as an educator and developer of a highly respected product line carries over to Asia and he is often asked to present educational seminars to large groups of Asian visitors. In addition, he travels extensively giving demonstrations and explaining his distinctive technique in Italy, the United Kingdom, Canada, Belgium, the Netherlands, Iceland and Germany.

Since arriving in Honolulu in 1970, Paul Brown has developed a personal clientèle that includes the Morita family (founders of Sony) and Yaeko Shiotsuki (Etiquette Director for Japan's Emperor), Hawaii's highest elected officials, Hawaii's top performers and business leaders. International notables and European and Asian royalty seek out Paul Brown's services when they spend time in Hawaii.

Brown has also been recognized nationally for his extraordinary charitable efforts and contributions in Hawaii. Salon Today, the leadinighly successful salon business for more than 33 years. His haircare line is now a dozen years old. Both the Paul Brown services and products are noted for their multicultural emphasis, developed because of the traditionally rich mix of cultures in Hawaii.

Today there are six Paul Brown salons, day spas and spas in Hawaii: four on the island of Oahu-- the flagship salon and day spa in Honolulu, two full service salons in suburban Honolulu (Waikele & Kailua) -- and Paul Brown?s Spa Olakino * Salon at Marriott's flagship hotel, the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort-- and the salon and spa at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel at Mauna Kea Resort, located on the Kohala Coast of the island of Hawaii. The final salon can be found in Kahului at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Paul with Staffcenter, located on the island of Maui. Paul's latest venture, The Paul Brown Institute of beauty and wellness technologies will open on Oahu early 2006. The Institute will be dedicated to teaching students massage, cosmetology and spa treatments under one roof. The combined locations employ approximately 290 people.
